In partnership with six other world cities, the Mayor invited businesses to find innovative worldwide solutions to urban problems in the world city challenge.

The challenges included:

  • Moscow: cutting excessive traffic noise in residential areas
  • San Luis Potosí: technologies for street commerce
  • Sant Cugat: food poverty, waste and sharing

The five finalists from each challenge were invited to the Cities Summit with the winners announced at a special awards ceremony.
